Audit Preparation & Support
Audit readiness starts long before year-end.
Monthly audit readiness, year-end audit preparation and audit query support for established South African businesses with an external audit requirement.
Know what is ready, what is outstanding and who needs to do what next.
Ready throughout the year. Better prepared at year-end.
We build on your monthly accounting process to maintain supporting schedules, review balance sheet reconciliations and address outstanding matters as they arise. Working alongside your internal finance team or existing accountant, we help spread preparation throughout the year and coordinate the information your appointed auditors need.
- Ongoing audit readiness: agreed monthly reconciliations, evidence organisation, supporting schedules and an outstanding-items register.
- Year-end audit preparation: review the auditor’s information request, prepare agreed schedules and coordinate a readiness checklist.
- Audit query support: gather evidence, help management prepare responses and track queries and follow-up actions.
How we start
Tell us whether you need ongoing monthly support, preparation for an approaching audit or help with existing audit queries. We review your reporting timetable, records and the auditor’s requirements, then agree responsibilities, deliverables and a fixed-fee quote. Any initial assessment fee is confirmed before that work begins.
Work is scheduled after cleared advance payment and receipt of the required information and authorisations. Any historic catch-up or additional work is scoped and agreed separately.
A clear rhythm with your team
- Establish the starting point. Identify completed reconciliations, missing evidence and immediate deadlines.
- Keep preparation moving. Agree monthly evidence dates, schedule reviews and owners for outstanding items.
- Coordinate year-end. Align the agreed preparation with the auditor’s information requests and planned audit date.
- Follow through on queries. Track responses, decisions and unresolved matters, with progress updates at agreed points.
You can engage us alongside your existing team; you do not have to move all your accounting work to us.
Your responsibilities and agreed scope
What is included and what is separate?
Your proposal defines the entities, periods, reconciliations, schedules and coordination work included, together with the extent and duration of audit query support. Routine monthly accounting and additional audit-readiness work are distinguished so you know what you are paying for.
Provide complete records on the agreed dates, nominate a contact in your team and review and approve information and responses where required. Missing evidence, unresolved balances or changes in auditor requirements may affect the timetable. Additional work and fees are agreed before proceeding.
Who performs the audit?
Coach Accountant provides preparation and support. Management retains responsibility for its records, financial statements and approvals. Your appointed independent auditor performs the audit and issues the audit opinion. Preparation does not guarantee a particular opinion, an adjustment-free audit or completion by a date outside our control.
