SARS has auto-assessed me — do I still need to do anything?
An auto-assessment is a personal income-tax assessment for a selected individual. Check that it reflects your full situation before assuming that your personal tax is complete.

Who qualifies for SARS auto-assessment?
SARS auto-assessment applies only to selected individuals for personal income tax. SARS uses third-party information to prepare an assessment for the individual to check.
SARS selects individuals using third-party information and complete personal details. Its criteria exclude income beyond employment and investment income, such as rental or trading income. If an auto-assessment is issued but leaves out income or deductions, an updated ITR12 must be submitted by the applicable deadline. Do not assume that receiving a refund means every income source was included.
